knitting project rundown

I'm hitting the yarn store tomorrow to pick out a baby project for my pregnant friend R. I need a new knitting project like I need a hole in the head. One of my goals for this vacation is to clear some of these projects off my plate (particularly since many of them are already so close to done), because my WiP list has gotten out of control again. Let's see what we've got...

  1. Placemat/surface protector thingy for dressing table in lime green ("Fermi Green") Cotton Fleece from Brown Sheep Company in made-up pattern to teach myself YO - actively working it, about 2 hours of work remains.

  2. Knitting Pure & Simple "Bulky V-Neck Pullover" sweater in black Cascade 220 - complete but for the crochet edge on neck & sewing in ends; stalled because I need to call my friend M. for help with the edge and I'm socially anxious.

  3. Knitting Pure & Simple "Bulky V-Neck Pullover" sweater in soft purple Cascade 220 for J. - 3/4 complete with body, then need to pick up and complete arms and finish with crochet trim on neck; stalled out for no reason except I need to dig out the measurements again, and because of the same reason above with the edging.

  4. K1C2 "Comfy Vest" (pattern 1006) in Debbie Bliss tan cashmerino aran - 1/2 complete with back; stalled because what was I thinking with the tan? I don't wear tan.

  5. Mom's scarf (made-up pattern) in blue/green/purple variegated Patons decor - 3/4 done; begun nearly 2 years ago, stalled because it's the first time I've worked with variegated yarn and didn't know how unevenly-sized the color clumps could be, and because I need to make mittens and a hate after this but I don't know how to do them in the pattern stitch I'm using, so I'm all scared-like.

  6. Square-top Hemmed hat from "Hats That Fit" in olive green Cascade 220 for K. - complete but for hemming, stalled out because I did the increases stupidly and made it ugly.

  7. Aran Pocket Shawl (from Folk Shawls) in "Gospel Green" Lambs Pride SuperWash Wool- about 10 inches done; stalled out because the pattern is simultaneously too dull to work at without other distractions (movies, TV, etc.) but too intricate to remember off the top of my head, and I tend to succeed best at projects that I can zone out while knitting, and because it doesn't look nearly as cool as the one in the book because I may have picked stupid yarn for it.

  8. "Simple Sock" from Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles in multicolor jewel tone hand-painted Koigu Painter's Palette Premium Merino- 3/4 complete with first sock; stalled out because they're going to be a leeeeeettle bit too small and I really should rip it out and start over because the yarn is too insanely expensive to waste, and also because I need to decrease for the toes and thus dig out the pattern again.

  9. "Simple Sock" from Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles in green/tan self-striping Regia Patch Antik - 1/2 complete with first sock; stalled out for no reason except I need to decrease for the toes and thus dig out the pattern again.

  10. Classic Elite "Bag with Star Motif" (pattern 867) in royal purple cotton - stalled for no reason at all.

  11. Classic Elite "Garter and Trinity Stitch Cardigan" (pattern 807) in forest green Cascade 220 - 1/2 complete with back; stalled out because I hate the trinity stitch.

  12. Made up ribbed scarf pattern in yellow Manos de Uruguay - 1/4 complete, stalled out because Manos didn't look very good in ribbed stitch, and I probably need to pull it out and do seed stitch instead.
Yarn on hand for projects currently unnamed:
  1. Olive Green Manos de Uruguay - 3 hanks - because I love Manos!
  2. "English Garden" (multicolored jewel-tone) mohair from Brown Sheep Company "Handpaint Originals" - 2 hanks - bought for experimentation
  3. Classic Elite Inca Alpaca in royal purple - 1 hank - bought for experimentation
  4. Rich pastel chenille "Kick" by Plymouth Yarn - 10 balls - bought on clearance because I loved the color and had no idea what a nightmare chenille can be
  5. Bright purple ("Prosperous Plum") Cotton Fleece from Brown Sheep Company - 1 skein - to make washcloths and learn to do new stitches and patterns
  6. Sage green Patons Grace mercerized cotton in tiny baby bootie-sized skeins - 2 skeins - because you should always have baby knitting supplies on hand at my age
  7. Sitron Trekking sock yarn in dusty pastel variegated wool - 1 skein - socks!
Am I inspired to work on any of these? No. But I am all fired up to go knit a freeform PDA holder with a scrap of GGH "Esprit" (favorite.yarn.ever.) that I found lurking in the bottom of the yarn bucket. Wheeee!
